In the Skytrax World Airline Awards 2022, Qatar Airways was named the best Airline of the Year. In addition, the Doha-based airline was named World’s Best Business Class, World’s Best Business Class Lounge Dining, and Best Airline in the Middle East.
Singapore Airlines came in second and Emirates came in third in the main Airline of the Year award. Air New Zealand finished in 30th place, down from 20th in 2021. Qatar’s Skytrax victory comes after it was named the top airline in the world for 2022 by AirlineRatings.com in July. Air New Zealand came in second place on that list.
Qatar Airways has topped the Skytrax list for the seventh time. The airline’s CEO, Akbar Al Baker, called the victory “a testament to all of our incredible employees’ hard work.”
“Their continued dedication and drive is to ensure our passengers have the best possible experience when flying with Qatar Airways,” Al Baker said.
“I’d like to express my heartfelt gratitude to all of our passengers who voted for us. Every day, your support propels us to greater heights; we value your loyalty and strive to create once-in-a-lifetime memories when you fly with Qatar Airways.”
After two years of virtual award ceremonies due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Skytrax World Airline Awards were presented at a ceremony in London.
